“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn.”

Isaiah 61:1-2

Seven hundred years after the prophet penned the words we read in Isaiah chapter 61, Jesus fulfilled them. Can you imagine the chaotic scene as He stood up in the synagogue, in front of all the religious leaders, and declared that He was the fulfillment of this prophecy?! Ugh, Jesus is the best.

He was never afraid to offend the people that knew the law but missed the point. And the point was that He had come to defeat sin, shame, and death once and for all. But He didn’t stop there. In the middle of the greatest rescue mission the world will ever know, Jesus was still healing the sick, setting people free, and shutting down religious debates like an absolute hero.

The bible tells us there wouldn’t be enough pages in all the books in all the world to record the miracles and moments Jesus did while He was on Earth, but I wanted to share a few of my favourite moments of Jesus with you, in this devotional. Whether fear, hunger, sickness, or storms, Jesus proved to be greater than everything. And He’s been reminding us ever since.

This devotional is an invitation to you, a roadmap to go deeper with Him, and a blueprint for your battle... It is an opportunity for you to discover the God who created you and is crazy about you. No matter what storm you are facing, I pray the scriptures and stories in these pages remind you of this timeless and timely truth: There is nothing our God cannot do; our Jesus is over everything.
